Six Feet

Pot With Six Feet

This bonsai pot was offered for auction in 1985 in the Japanese “BONSAI ART AUCTIONS catalogue.

Size: 39,5 cm x 25,5 cm x 11,5 cm

A bonsaist might think that this is a very old and extravagant pot. A bonsaist-potter however knows about the secret of the six feet - it is quite mundane, a mere potter's problem. The potter probably had problems with drying or firing his works. He then just added two feet to prevent a sagging during the process. This fixes the problem, but the visual appearance takes a lot of getting used to.
