Out of the Ordinary

Out of the ordinary

You don't always have to choose a classic pot to enhance the beauty of a bonsai. In this composition, for example, everything is “wrong” from a traditional point of view.

This juniper almost has a literati style, but the pot would be more suited for a semi-cascade, and then it's even painted! (Engobe painting, about 60 – 80 years old). Considering this, nobody would dare to plant this tree into that pot. But I have to say that it creates a nice tension, yet it is harmonious and balanced. Conclusion: now and then one should have the heart to leave the ordindary behind and try something new!
